WordPress 2.1
WordPress 2.0.6 was just released, followed by a 2.0.7 quickfix, I didn’t even get a chance to mention that one and now the big WordPress 2.1 is released.
There’s a lot of improvements, but you’ll have to consider whether you are ready to upgrade or not. If you use many plugins, you may have to kiss some goodbye. There are a lot of available plugins out there but unfortunately many of them are not supported past their release.
Also there is some compatibility issues with the narchives.php file that comes with ComicPress. I’m reworking the file, it needed to be done anyway for the ComicPress 2.0 release coming soon. You can get a new archive file here.
I don’t know that I’ll do much in the way of updates around here until ComicPress 2.0 is out. Also this blog will be moving to the official ComicPress site then as well, keep it simpler.

Is there a target release date for Comicpress 2.0?
I’m chomping at the bit to redesign my site, but I don’t want to get into it until I see all the improvements your making…

There is no set date, I have most everything I’m doing with it pulled together, I’ve just been so busy lately it’s just a matter of carving a chunk of time out of my schedule to finish it up.

I’m in a similar situation with a webcomic launch pending… would you offer us a quick list of improvements in 2.0 so we can make the call whether to go for it or hold off? If I do go for 1.5 now, will the upgrade be pretty straightforward?

I’m working on it this weekend. Not much will change with the basic version of the theme other than a new archives file because the old one has issues with the new WordPress 2.1. I have a test version you can try in the forum.
The main feature will be different formats of the theme. I’m mainly working on the “Blogging Edition” right now, the one that will run the comics as they are now, but also separately run blog/news posts on the main page.
As far as upgrading the CSS file will be pretty similar that you can copy and paste over your styles, it would just matter how much customizing you did of all the php files.
